Anticipatory Action in
humanitarian response: Redefining disaster preparedness amid climate threats

El Niño:

AADSOM ramps up emergency readiness for El Niño: At-risk communities in focus

Somalia: Quick Snapshot—2025

Somalia faces significant humanitarian needs, with 5.98 million people requiring assistance. Food insecurity is severe: 4.6 million are projected to face acute hunger, and 620,000 are already in emergency levels. Displacement persists at scale, with 3.5 million people uprooted by floods, conflict, and drought. Immediate priorities include food and nutrition support, WASH services, essential healthcare, and protection for highly vulnerable IDP communities.

What is needed?

Anticipatory Action can prevent the worst. There is a short window of opportunity to intervene and prevent a large-scale humanitarian disaster – it’s not too late to take action.
